Ronald Reagan believed with all his heart that America stood apart from other nations. America in his view was exceptional not just in terms of economic wealth and military might, but because "We the People" rule. Citizens decide which paths this country will take, and command the government to adjust accordingly.

What else can one expect in a land so free and blessed with such liberty - liberty unlike that in any other land? Because Americans are free, and because on balance, government stays out of the way of progress, our people are free to recognize their greatness.

It is because of our undying belief in human dignity and the belief that a legitimate government can take from no man his right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, that America has sacrificed mightily to defend the freedom of hundreds of millions throughout the world, and will continue to do so.

...This fundamental goodness and love of our fellow man is what solidifies our American Exceptionalism. Though far from perfect, America is indisputably a force for good in a troubled world. President Reagan was able to bring that fact home in the hearts and minds of the American People, who knew it to be true. Americans loved and continue to love Ronald Reagan for it.

My question is, are none of our politicians currently running for (or holding) high office capable of doing the same?
